THE LANGUAGE OF LEADERSHIP:
COACHING SKILLS PROGRAM

Leaders develop leaders

You’re paid for what your people do, not only for what you do. Time and money are finite. People are the one resource with room to grow without limit.

Language of Leadership:
Coaching Skills Program

Where leaders learn to develop the people who build their business.

Most leaders were promoted for their expertise and then asked to lead, develop, and get results through others, often without ever being shown how. At People Biz we treat coaching as a leadership practice. It’s a set of skills you can learn, practice, and use in every conversation you’re already having.

The Language of Leadership: Coaching Skills Program is a six-month leadership development program grounded in the understanding that communication is far more than the exchange of information.

Through ongoing practice and discussion, participants strengthen their ability to engage people in ways that encourage ownership, growth, and meaningful participation.

Over time, these skills become part of how participants lead every day and across all aspects of their lives; both personal and professional.

Leaders learn how to empower others to action

The Language of Leadership: Coaching Skills Program develops practical communication skills such as planning, delegation, collaboration, inquiry, accountability and listening.

People grow when they are invited to think, contribute, and participate. Through the coaching skills developed in this course, you learn how to create conversations that support learning, engagement, and personal responsibility. The series develops core skills, practiced over the full program until they become second nature:

Listening

Participants learn to listen for who someone is i.e. their values, beliefs, commitments and aspirations. You learn to listen for not only what is said, but for what’s unsaid. You’ll practice giving your full attention to another, releasing control of outcomes, where the conversation and its direction belongs to the other person. When people feel seen and heard they commit, grow, and take ownership.

Your answers are your answers; they work for you. Great questions help people reach their own answers. They also help people think things through. Imagine no longer having to have all the answers. Imagine being able to leave people feeling capable and empowered.

Language is the working tool of a coach. You’ll learn to say less and mean more: clear, present, jargon-free, and free of unspoken agendas. Your employees will thank you!

You will learn to shift conversations from problem-focused to solution-focused, and help people turn intention into a clear, achievable plan.

Accountability isn’t blame or burden. It’s a communication skill: setting expectations, naming responsibilities, and managing agreements through ongoing, honest dialogue. Now, instead of employees resisting accountability, you can create an environment that nurtures it.

The program also weaves in principles around building culture, planning, self-awareness and emotional intelligence.

At the center of the program is a model you’ll use repeatedly: a simple, six-part way to facilitate.

  1. Focus the conversation — get clear on what the person wants from it
  2. Discover possibilities — open up to what could be
  3. Create awareness — shift attention to the who, not only the what
  4. Plan the action — turn possibility into a concrete next step and strategy
  5. Remove barriers — anticipate what could get in the way, and plan for it
  6. Accountability — agree on what happens next, and follow through

The most meaningful learning happens in the gap between where someone is and where they want to be.

When you integrate this coaching model, you are equipped to stop problem solving. People are not a problem to be solved, and do not fit into a problem-solving model.

A program built for leaders who are responsible for the growth of others

This program supports founders, business partners, senior leaders, managers, and team leaders.

It’s for founders and business owners ready to lead through their teams, rather than  around them.

It’s for senior leaders and partners looking to align a group of capable people toward a shared way of working.

It’s for managers and team leaders who want their conversations to develop people, not just direct them.

Many participants join the series after discovering that leadership increasingly depends on their ability to engage people through conversation. Their success no longer rests solely on their own expertise, effort, or experience. Rather, it is shaped by their ability to create clarity, develop others, and foster accountability through relationships.
